On this day, October 4, 1940, German Führer Adolf Hitler and Italian Duce Benito Mussolini met at Brenner Pass to celebrate their Pact of Steel of May 22, 1939. They met at the Brenner Pass multiple times in their alliance (for example, they also met on March 18, 1940). At the October 4th meeting, Mussolini confirmed his decision to enter the war on the side of Germany.
